Which mobile genres are actually kind to your battery
After testing dozens of games on the same worn-out phone, a pattern showed up: some genres barely touch the battery while others empty it in an afternoon. It mostly comes down to how much the screen is doing and how hard the graphics push.
Point-and-tap adventures and text-heavy games are the gentlest. They render mostly static scenes, so the GPU coasts. City-builders and simulations sit in the middle, spiking a little during animated events but resting otherwise.
Racers and 3D RPGs are the hungry ones. Constant motion, particles, and lighting keep the hardware busy the whole time. The good news is that most of them let you turn effects down, and doing so usually saves more charge than any battery-saver app.
My rule of thumb: check the settings menu before you judge a game's battery life. A game that offers a frame-rate cap and an effects toggle is telling you it respects your phone.
