When your phone gets warm: a plain guide to throttling

Every so often a game turns your phone into a hand warmer, and beyond the discomfort there's a real effect: the phone throttles itself to cool down, and your frame rate drops. Understanding that helps you avoid it.

Heat mostly comes from the GPU working hard, so the same fixes that save battery also keep things cool. Lower the graphics, cap the frame rate, and close background apps before a long session.

Charging while you play is a sneaky culprit. The battery warms up as it charges, and stacking a heavy game on top makes the phone hotter and throttle sooner. If you can, play unplugged and charge afterward.

If a game throttles even on low settings, it's usually just too demanding for that phone, and no tweak will fully fix it. That's worth knowing before you commit to a long campaign.
